Rumour has it he even had his nappy changed in the back of a removal van, no matter if that is true or not, with two decades of domestic moving experience behind him, matt has certainly developed a voice............

going to get my affairs in order
January 10th 2012
I am going to have to be careful with this blog entry. It could easily come across as having a chip on my shoulder. I do not.
This is just a comparative thought. But it is one I thought I would share.
I just got a quote for my girlfriends clutch to be replaced. From a VW specialist. The quote is not unreasonable, not at all. They charge £45+VAT per hour. It is a one person job.
They have a premises of around 1500 square foot.
Now, I wondered how this compares to us;
We obviously have a premise. It is 50,000 square foot. Of which about 5000 square feet is dedicated to our vehicles.
On average a crew of two from ourselves goes out at just under eighty pounds a hour. All inclusive.
There are no other charges to pay. It includes VAT. No parts to lay out for.
This being for a a skilled trained crew. The same in the motor trade would cost £108.
Our charges are just 73% that that would be paid to have your car serviced.
A garage owner I know states that their work can appear and drop off rapidly, that is just the same as in this trade.
He stated that his staff have to be trained, well, that is no different here.
He spoke of the cost of equipment. I would point to our vehicles and six weekly maintenence schedules.
Just a thought.
and i have not mentioned the solicitors!...................

Welcome to my blog page 23rd November 2011
I wanted to keep this page rant free for a few days at leastbut something once again hath causeth thy wrath through word to flow.
Just got off the phone to Mrs Gill < nothing remarkable about that in itself. Mrs Gill is upset and annoyed because she expected to exchange contracts today and she has not < nothing remarkable about that either.
So, hows about I mention that Mrs Gill has been told by her solicitor to move tomorrow anyway and the chain will all have to finalise everything and exchange in the morning.......
Yip, this poor woman will be moved out of her home with her children, pets and husband and they will not have even exchanged on the house they wish to purchase and neither will they have exchanged on the one they will have been moved out from.
The words imperfect system just do not even come close to covering it.
Totally and utterly unfair on this poor Droitwich based family.
yet another reason why the following was written, and is soon the be published properly on our website and available to download
23/11/11 The last few months have been quite interesting. I guess I am either an opinionated loud mouth, or somebody educated in our trade worth listening to depending on your viewpoint!
This page has been filled with economic and political ramblings for some time. As well of course as my usual ranting about the whole house moving process and how annoyed the team I am so priviledged work with, myself, and indeed many in this industry/trade get with just how little respect gets shown to the members of public who are the paymasters of this whole affair.
It now seems as though more people are taking an interest in this topic and I have been fortunate enough that The Mover magazine were keen to hear my comments. You can read the article below.
Below that, from the month before is an interview requested by R&S magazine.
If you have any comments then please, feel free to email me on matt@moversandstorers.co.uk

Another Matt, Matt Faizey from M&G Transport in Solihull agrees Matt De-Machen. He says it’s a lack of education, confidence and knowledge on the part of business owners that causes their inability to get a proper price for the job. “But most importantly of all, many reap what they sow. Act, look, and give off the impression of labourers as opposed to educated, precise professionals and that is what you·ll earn,” he said.
